After watching the ever so inspirational video "the power of vision" presented in my management there are certainly a few things to comment about.
First off, the video is indeed, a little corny. However, some of its keys goals are very proactive and therefore we should put the corniness aside and focus on its methods of getting you work towards your goals in a personal and organizational level.
Here are a few personal and professional goals that i hope to accomplish throughout my life.
1) Stay healthy and live long - This ones pretty easy, while this goal is a little out of our control. One once of prevention is better than a pound of error, as they say. (Or something along those lines) Annual check ups at the doctor and working out 5 days a week will help my goal of living longer and being healthy.
2) Play every game i'm interested in - this one is silly, but then again, so is throwing starfish into the ocean. You only live once, i happen to love playing video games, and i don't want to miss out in something i enjoy. How would i go about achieving this? Well, i suppose regardless of work or how old i get, i would have to check up once in a while about the newest games coming out every year.
3) Complete the CPA - The CPA is one of those placement tests that helps your career as an accountant tremendously. However the exam is difficult. In order to achieve this goal, i will require a lot of free time studying after graduation.
4) Being financially sound - Possibly a little vague, but after watching my parents sport a large amount of debt that they will have trouble paying back. One of my goals is to definitely make enough money to keep myself from running into extreme debt. This goal requires vigilance. I would say in order to achieve this, i would require a job that is financially secure. And careful scrutiny of my finances. Management, finance, and accounting should all help benefit how i manage my personal accounts (at least i hope so).
I am curious about your second point. What type of games do you prefer? For instance, I was playing actions and simulations. It was for a long time.
ReplyDeleteWell, obviously the one that is in everyone's best interest is to stay health. This is a life long vision plan. This will effect the very core of your every move from what you eat, to sleeping, working, and exercise patterns. This is a vision that you will apply everyday. I think this is the ultimate vision goal, because whether your other visions and goals are self-centered or to serve others you cannot accomplish anything without your health. Furthermore, if you have all your other life goals accomplished and your unhealthy, you wont be able to enjoy them. Your vision plan is by far the best I read so far.
ReplyDeleteI like your second goal. I feel that when we were given the assignment, everyone thought to be successful or to move somewhere but playing games, as youthful as that sounds, I can imagine it being pretty fun!
ReplyDeleteThe CPA is hard -- I have the same goal, so good luck to us both! If the time comes, we would even study for it together.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation on your vision of your future!!!
ReplyDeleteAs the video says, Everyone must have a dream. It is key for your future. And education is essential...
I think you are in the right path towards the realization of your dreams. You have career goals and you know it won't be easy to achieve those goals. However, you already thought how you can overcome the obstacles: by studying hard after you graduate.
We must not be an observer in the Universe. We must be an actor in the Universe and make a difference.
Good Luck!
Hello Elliot,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great list of goals. I especially like the second one because its unlike the typical visions that most people have. And I completely agree with you that we should invest our time in doing the things we love so game on! (But make sure you try to stay on track with your other goals as well) haha.
Thank You for comment back! I really respect the fact that you in your blog posted things in the way they really are. Health is important, the same as your own satisfaction that in your case to do what you like, gaming. Money questions should go after goals that you need more in some way.
